The Kurdistan Workers’ Party’s (PKK) manipulative terrorist attack targeting the civilians in Iraqi province Duhok’s Zaho district is meaningful in terms of its timing, and while it points to a critical period, it also reveals the instigator hegemonic country, the U.S. The PKK terrorist organization’s massacre of civilians, without making any distinction between women, children, and in fact babies, points to the facts we know as a nation why they are called "baby murderers” even in our southeast. U.S. recognition and acceptance of the PKK and Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) in the NATO document as terrorist organizations is a diplomatic victory for Türkiye. The U.S. openly supporting the PKK and its Syrian wing, the People’s Protection Units (YPG), which it recognizes in international NATO documents, is out of the question from now on. Thus, the Pentagon had the terrorist attack on civilians in Zaho, Duhok conducted by the PKK/YPG terrorists under its control, and then blamed the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF). It is clear it made serious PR efforts in this regard. The sites under U.S. and PKK control, European capitals, Russia, and Iran are able to unite simultaneously only when Türkiye is the subject. It seems like the U.S. wants to create a front against Türkiye. The aim is to turn the lie that the TAF is massacring civilians into an international slander against Türkiye using U.S. propaganda methods. Does the U.S. argument made against Türkiye’s military operation on north Syria ahead of the NATO leaders summit, and Iran and Russia’s claim that “a military attack on north Syria will cause instability in the region, and hence benefit terrorists,” made ahead of the Tehran Summit mean they oppose Türkiye’s military operation on north Syria? The most interesting claim was the one U.S. President Joe Biden made at a meeting on July 16 in Jeddah with the leaders of nine Arab countries. He said, “We are witnessing efforts to sabotage the order in the world and the Middle East,” openly targeting China, Russia, and Iran. Saying, “We will never go, we will leave no void in the region for China, Russia, or Iran to fill,” Biden signaled the U.S. will continue to be an active partner in the region, and support its allies’ anti-terrorism efforts in the region. Though he never mentioned Türkiye while covertly stating that the U.S. will support the PKK/YPG, its sole ally in the region, Türkiye was threatened. This terrorist act clearly signals that the U.S. developed a counterstrategy aimed not at preventing Türkiye’s likely military operation on north Syria, but rather its likely operation on northern Iraq and the eastern Euphrates, and instigated the PKK’s artillery shelling in Zaho, Duhok, killing civilians.
HOW DID PENTAGON KNOW THAT TEHRAN SUMMIT WOULD CALL FOR US WITHDRAWAL FROM SYRIA, ESPECIALLY EASTERN EUPHRATES?
President Biden stated at the Jeddah meeting on July 16 that the U.S. will never leave the Middle East and allow U.S. enemies to take over. A few days after this statement, when the trilateral summit in Tehran on July 19 decided that the U.S. will leave Syria, and especially eastern Euphrates, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said to journalists upon his return from the summit, “The U.S. needs to leave the eastern Euphrates now. This is the evaluation that resulted from the Astana process.” In fact, the U.S. learned three days before the Astana summit or at the Tehran summit, the Syria decision taken against the U.S. thanks to intelligence, and responded that the U.S. will not leave Syria.
WILL RUSSIA-IRAN MANAGE TO STICK WITH DECISION THAT US MUST WITHDRAW FROM SYRIA, ESPECIALLY EASTERN EUPHRATES?
This call that the U.S. supports terrorism in the region and hence it needs to leave the eastern Euphrates is extremely critical. It indicates that the process is aimed at fully driving out the U.S. from the Middle East. If Türkiye-Iran-Russia's joint call continues, the U.S. will no longer have a chance to remain any further in the region. The states claiming they advocate Syria’s territorial integrity first need to take a position against the U.S. There is no doubt about Türkiye’s position against the U.S. As the 2023 elections approach, President Erdoğan is able to show the will, determination, and courage to tell the U.S. to get out of the region.
In order for Russia and Iran to prove their sincerity, they have no choice but to support Türkiye’s operations aimed at the eastern Euphrates. Advocating Syria’s territorial integrity on the one hand, while opposing an operation against PKK/YPG terrorism, which is carrying out operations to establish a separate state under U.S. patronage, would be inconsistent. We will see together whether Russia and Iran will make this mistake.
