A Myanmar government commission has said the Rohingya ethnic group is not facing genocide in the country's remote Rakhine State, rejecting any evidence to the contrary as "propaganda". The Rohingya are a minority of about 1 million people who, despite having lived in Myanmar for generations, are treated as illegal immigrants and denied citizenship. The U.N. has described them as among the most persecuted minority groups worldwide.
