London zookeepers count over 19,000 animals

The zookeepers at London Zoo began counting more than 19,000 animals for the zoo's annual stock take. The count, which usually takes place at the beginning of January, had been postponed after a fire on Dec. 23, 2017 that killed four meerkats and an aardvark. From Asiatic lions to jellyfish inside an indoor tank, the zookeepers have to find inventive ways to tally the animals. The zoo expects to have accounted for 19,289 animals from over 700 different species when they have finished the extensive task
