Three foreign nationals were arrested Thursday when Israeli forces forcibly attacked protesters at a demonstration in Khan al-Ahmar, a Bedouin community in East Jerusalem.
“Israeli forces stormed Khan al-Ahmar this morning and began attacking demonstrators,” community spokesman Daoud Jahaleen told Anadolu Agency.
During the melee, he said, three foreign nationals were arrested by Israeli police.
Israeli security forces attacked Palestinians as they tried to prevent them from destroying their tents and sheds with bulldozers in the Khan al-Ahmar village in east Jerusalem on Wednesday. For years, the Israeli government has tried to dismantle the Abu al-Nawwar community to make way for its massive E1 settlement project in East Jerusalem. Israeli authorities seek to expel some 10,000 Bedouin residents of the E1 zone, which sits on roughly 15 square kilometers of land northeast of Jerusalem, to build Jewish-only residential units linking Jerusalem to the Ma'ale Adumim settlement.

Jahaleen added that “dozens” of Israeli soldiers, accompanied by bulldozers and military vehicles, had surrounded the community since Thursday morning.
“The army is now preventing journalists and solidarity activists from reaching the area,” the spokesman added.
On Wednesday, Israeli bulldozers destroyed a number of tents and other structures in Khan al-Ahmar, triggering clashes with local residents.
There are 46 Bedouin communities scattered across Israeli-occupied East Jerusalem inhabited by a total of some 3,000 residents.
A military delegation from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is currently in Israel for an official visit, Israeli media reported Wednesday. “The Israeli Air Force recently hosted a military delegation from the UAE to review the performance of advanced U.S.-made F-35 fighter jets,” Israel’s I24 news channel quoted an unnamed official source as saying. “An American delegation was also present at the time,” the source added. According to I24, the UAE “seeks to purchase its own fleet of F-35s… amid reports of a burgeoning Israeli-Gulf alliance against Iran”.The UAE, for its part, has yet to confirm the reported visit to Israel, with whom it does not have diplomatic relations.
