Women in Kenya declare war on invasive colonial-era plant species

As the early morning sun shines across the East African country Kenya's vast northern Laikipia plateau, a group of women are roaming in the fields to kill an invasive colonial-era plant species that feeds on indigenous vegetation. The ornamental plant brought by the British colonialists to Kenya in the 1940s has been killing indigenous vegetation, especially grasses and bushes, thus creating food shortages for livestock and wild animals.
