Israel launched attacks on Gaza from the air, land and sea eight years ago. Cluster munitions and phosphorus bombs, which are banned under the Geneva Convention, were used by Israel. A 22-day attack killed 1,500 civilians, 355 of whom were children, and wounded 7,000. The attacks destroyed 4,000 houses and half of the city's health centers and damaged 280 schools. The illegal embargo enforced by Israel upon Gaza has intensified.
