Al-Bab, Syria viewed from the air after Daesh driven out
The strategically important city of al-Bab, Syria, which the Turkish military and Free Syrian Army (FSA) captured from Daesh on Feb. 24, has been viewed from the air. Security forces continue to clear mines that Daesh planted throughout the city. All of the city's neighborhoods are clear of Daesh terrorists. Turkey has now effectively formed a buffer zone in northern Syria after successfully clearing Jarablus and Dabiq, and now al-Bab, of terrorist organizations such as Daesh. The Turkish-led operation, aided by the FSA, was launched in late August to improve security, support coalition forces and eliminate the threat of terror along the Turkish-Syrian border.
