
Turkish police seize ancient magic book engraved on python leather
Turkish anti-smuggling teams on Saturday (Feb. 6) seized valuable ancient books considered to be from the Middle Ages. The teams of the Provincial Gendarmerie Command Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch carried out an operation to an address in the central Haliliye district of Sanliurfa province after a two-month technical and physical follow-up. The teams found a four-meter long python leather with many hand-engraved figures which is believed to be a magic book from ancient Egypt, five religious books dating back to the middle ages, two manuscripts on leather two book boxes, and a parchment with religious writings. Two suspects were detained and taken to the Gendarmerie Command.
