Mucilage has covered the coast of Canakkale province, dragging by the effect of the wind. CCTV camera shows the mucilage is moving along the coast of Canakkale. Mucilage, also known colloquially as “sea snot,” is an overgrowth of microscopic algae called phytoplankton and is caused by rising seawater temperatures due to global warming, stagnant water and pollution.
