Social media platform TikTok, developed by Chinese tech company ByteDance, came under fire after suspending the account of a 17-year-old girl after she condemned the mass detention and surveillance of Uyghur Muslims in China's Xinjiang region in a video disguised as a beauty tutorial. TikTok claimed that the account of Feroza Aziz was suspended due to another video she posted that moderators felt violated its policies.
