Srebrenica massacre: Over 8,000 Muslims slaughtered
During the Yugoslavian civil war in July 1995, the Serbian army invaded Srebrenica as part of the "Operation Krivaja '95." The Serbian army slaughtered over 8,000 Muslims in a short period of time. The massacre went down in history as genocide and ethnic cleansing. The pain of the Srebrenica massacre is still felt by Bosnians 22 years later. Former Bosnian Serb commander Ratko Mladic was jailed for life by UN judges on Wednesday after being found guilty of crimes against humanity, including genocide. He was also found to have had "significant responsibility" for the genocide of over 8,000 Muslim men and boys in Srebrenica in 1995.
