The rescue is still underway at a hotel buried by an avalanche on Wednesday in the Gran Sasso Mountain in central region of Abruzzo of Italy. Two victims' bodies were found, and more than 30 people remained missing as of Thursday.
The avalanche buried Hotel Rigopiano in the mountains after at least five strong earthquakes struck the area on Wednesday.
The rescue vehicles were hard to gain access to the hotel as local roads were covered by thick snow. The rescue workers reported that they had not yet found any sign of life inside the hotel.
Fabrizio Curcio, the Italian civil protection chief, said the rescue team would work overnight despite complicated conditions they faced.
The snowstorm in the Abruzzo region this week caused black out and disrupted traffic.
According to local media, Hotel Rigopiano with 43 rooms is one of the most popular retreats in the region.
