Heavy winter rains, winds, and cold temperatures have struck the island of Lesbos, where some 8,000 migrants are living in dire conditions. Pelting winds shook migrants' tents on Friday lifting tarps used to keep out the rains, while children bundled up in layered clothing, scarves and hats ran through the mud-strewn camps. Other migrants huddled around makeshift fires built from pieces of wood from trees to keep warm. A day earlier heavy floods spilled through parts of the island.
