Turkey's pool of sacred fish: "Balıklıgöl"

The Balıklıgöl, one of Sanliurfa's most popular spots, is where, according to legend, King Nimrod built a huge pyre to sentence Abraham to death. Miraculously, just as Abraham was hurled into the fire, the flames were transformed into water and the logs into fish. Since then, the Balikligol and its carp have been considered sacred.
