Turkey's Religious Affairs Directorate has taught Kur-an to 9000 disabled people through 4123 Kur-an courses since 2013. “We opened our first course for hearing-impaired citizens in Maltepe Mosque. We recognize that our studies are insufficient and we have to rescue our handicapped citizens from loneliness and ostracization. The head of Religious Affairs, Mehmet Görmez, created a work schedule for this purpose. In this manner, we try to teach core religious knowledge and the Kuran to the handicapped,” said Çankaya's mufti, Hamdi Gevher.
