Turkey's Canal Istanbul to connect the Sea of Marmara and Black Sea

Turkey’s mega project Canal Istanbul will connect the Sea of Marmara and Black Sea and will be the most important component of the Middle Corridor, the trade route connecting Europe and Asia. Canal Istanbul is one of Turkey's most strategic megaprojects, which is meant to reduce potential risks posed by ships carrying dangerous goods through the Bosphorus Strait. The construction of Canal Istanbul, with a daily passage capacity of 185 vessels, is expected to be completed in 2025-2026.
