The staff of a wetland park in northwest China's Xinjiang Region have been helping migratory birds to get food and water in frigid winter as the temperature plunged to minus 28 degrees Celsius. The lake in the Manas National Wetland Park was covered with a thick tier of ice. The park staff dug a trench 50 meters long and three meters wide on the lake surface to provide water for the birds. They also placed food for birds. Around noon time each day, more than 300 swans and over 1,000 mallards come to the trench for food and water.
