Rescue dog lauded for heroic mission in Taiwan quake
A rescue dog that took part in the operation to search for survivors in the rubble of Taiwan quake has received exceptional praise from the Taiwanese public for his 'heroic act' after he found a survivor. This is the first time Tie Hsiung, which directly translated as "Iron Hero" in mandarin, joins a search mission. The four-year-old labrador flew in to reinforce the search mission from Taichung City shortly after a deadly magnitude 6 quake rocked the coastal city of Hualien. It was Tie Hsiung that discovered two Marshal Hotel staff Liang Shiu-wei, who miraculously walked out of the hotel, and his co-worker Zhou Chih-hsuan about 15 hours after the quake.
