Giant panda brings tourists at Washington D.C. zoo despite cold
The charm of the U.S.-born giant panda, Beibei, has continued to attract visitors to the Washington D.C. zoo despite the chilly winter weather. Beibei, born on Aug. 22, 2015, at the Smithsonian National Zoo in Washington D.C., is the son of Tiantian and Meixiang, two pandas sent to the U.S. in the year 2000. This superstar family has attracted millions of visitors to the zoo every year. The young panda consumes around 30 kilograms of bamboo every day and once a week has a stick of sugar cane for dessert. Laurie Thompson, the director at the pandahouse of the Smithsonian National Zoo, said Beibei is rather similar to his father.
