Fire brigade rescues fox from freezing water
A fox had a lucky escape on Thursday after being rescued from the bowels of an artificial lake by the Italian firebrigade. The animal had been stuck for hours in freezing waters in the artificial lake in the Umbrian town of Fossato di Vico, with no chance of escaping due to the steep cement sides. A fireman was winched down in protective clothing on a rope and managed to catch the animal who seemed more than ready to be helped to safety. After a quick rub down with a towel the fox was handed over to the forestry department who is expected to release it back into the wild.
