Protesters play havoc in the eastern province of Van, in objection to both ISIL's penetration into the besieged Syrian town and the govt's seemingly passive stance<br />  <br /> A riot, sparked by ISIL's relentless advance into Kobane, reeked havoc on the predominantly-Kurdish province of Van, especially in its district of Erçiş. <br />  <br /> Provocators set fire to all shops, stores and a majority of the public buildings and branches of the state-run banks in Erçiş. <br />  <br /> The angry crowd claimed that the Turkish government has done nothing to halt the advance of the militant group in the Syrian town of Kobane, which has become a scene of fierce street battles between armed Kurdish groups and ISIL insurgents.<br />  <br /> Local authorities ordered a 24-hour curfew in the Kurdish-majority province which was lifted on Thursday morning.  The activities have come to a standstill in Erçiş where residents and local tradesmen expressed anger against the waves of violence. <br />  <br /> Families in Erciş have not sent their children to school, trying to prevent them from being instrumental to the vandals, their cause and their violence. <br />  <br /> The protests have reportedly calmed down after police stepped up security precautions in and around Erçiş.<br />

A riot, sparked by ISIL's relentless advance into Kobane, reeked havoc on the predominantly-Kurdish province of Van, especially in its district of Erçiş.
