Prosecutors in the Turkish capital Ankara issued on Friday arrest warrants for 98 suspects linked to the FETÖ terror group as part of an investigation into the group’s covert presence in the Gendarmerie General Command.
Seven of the suspects are still on duty, whereas 53 of them were expelled from state institutions.
Security forces have launched a large-scale operation in 45 Turkish provinces to arrest the suspects.
FETÖ and its US-based leader Fetullah Gulen orchestrated the defeated coup of July 15, 2016, in which 251 people were killed and 2,734 wounded.
Ankara accuses FETÖ of being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police, and judiciary.
