Mistrust… - ALI BAYRAMOĞLU

Mistrust…

The political and communal analyses in Turkey are usually problem-, objection- and reaction-centered.

The never-ending concern, that is related to the future, feeds this condition. As the worry increases, the "problem-centered perception" increases.

When viewed from this frame, we are facing two big issues….

As much as these issues feeding off the concerns are related with the future, they feed these concerns in return and form a peccable circle…

The first one of these issues is related with politics and state, while the other is related with the community…

An irregularity in the centralist and interventionist structure, monopolist settlement, political authority – political responsibility mechanism, exists within the known structural problems. Under these conditions, it"s not surprising to see as the state and politics become a side between sides, and on top of that, become a side that looks after the benefits of itself and others that administer them, rather than being a referee. As it cannot be expected from such a state or political understanding to direct the community and communal transformations without resorting to authoritative methods, its unavoidable that it will create problems rather than solving them.

As for the second issue…

This issue is originating from tensions happening between various communal segments.

We are a society, which has completed the integration period, still perceiving the outer world from the point of congregations; thus, is formed by secret, open, laic, religious, ethnical, political, economical congregations.

We are suffering from a lack of communal communications between the communal groups and various segments…

Without a doubt, this situation creates a communal and structural weakness. However, the main problem here is the forms taken by this weakness against the inputs, political decisions and the transformation oppression. Also, it is because of this community is at the mercy of serious communal union crises within this frame time to time.

However, the conservative and republican, devout and secular political values, which are based on isolated and homogenous understanding, cannot answer to the communal identities" differentiations and demands of equalizing with their inequalities.

It"s because of this reason the White Turk reaction, which is directed at some communal segments" differentiations and attempts towards equalization, is taking place in the root of the reactions against rulership today, more than authoritative applications.

We come face to face with a similar tableau at the conservative segment. Identity- and victimhood- centered analyses and attitudes are examples of this.

Reaction happens this way.

Kurdish identity, laic identity, Islamic identity, Alevist identity not only creates a problem or situation against the state, but also starts to be a problem for each other at the same time…

As much as they feed on the future concerns, they also feed these future concerns…

Future concern and the communal mistrust towards neighborhood essentially points at the mistrust towards politics and the no-politics in the name of politics…

If the rulership-obsessed analyses and others, who are burning with the rulership desire, are degrading country issues to political rulership, and beyond that, to political leaders, then if the politics" hegemony over the community is only growing through the civil area rather than rulership, then the fruits of these concerns are obvious.

And these fruits, which are products of mistrust and stuck between applause and curses (that are rulership lovers in some people"s tongues and are sworn white opponents in the tongues of others), are monotype. And at the same rate, they had reproduced mistrust, at the same scale they had stayed away from understanding the society and touching the society with political obsession….

This problem is something not to be underestimated.
