Muhammad Qutb was born in the village of Musha near Asyut in 1919. He completed all his education in Egypt. After his elder brother''s execution by the then government, he became his follower and promoter his ideas.
He was arrested with his elder brother Sayyid in 1965 on charges of planning assassination on the country''s cultural and political leaders in order to topple the then government Although Sayyid was executed a year later, Muhammad's capital punishment was pardoned.
After his release in 1972, he was granted asylum with Muslim Brotherhood members in Saudi Arabia, where he published his elder brother Sayyid's books and became a professor of Islamic Studies.
